Over a meal, Jesus told those present,
"One at this table now will betray me."
So they wondered exactly what he meant.
Simon Peter announced, “Who could it be?”

Judas took the dipped bread that Jesus gave.
Not for the poor or to prepare the feast,
He left quick as there was no time to save.
Jesus said, “My time left is at its least.”

“To come with me, you can’t,” he concluded.
Peter said, “But Lord, I would die for you.”
So Jesus explained, “You are deluded,
Not now, but there will be a day you do.”

“Tonight you will not hear the rooster crow
Until three times you’ve denied me to know.”
